I don’t normally expect much for hotel food but this is a good start for my first-time stay at @teardrop_hotels Wallawwa in Sri Lanka.
First night:
🍞 In-house bread
🥗 Asian Nicoise Salad
🐟 Pan Fried Barramundi
🥩 Pan Fried Beef Tenderloin
🍹Pina Colada and Mango Mojito
😂 Too full for desserts! And not warmed up for local food yet.
Next morning:
🍞 Bread Basket with different jams
🍉 Mixed Fruit Platter
🥤 Mixed Fruit Juice
🍳 Eggs Benedict
🥞 French Toast
☕️ Coffee and Tea
😋 Ate well before we hit the road!
Both meals are included in our half board basis stay with a wide variety of food options to choose from.
Fruits are harvested from the hotel’s farm.

🇱🇰 Do you enjoy trying local cuisine when you travel? I ordered Spicy Lagoon Prawn rice & curry and it actually arrived like this!
Welcome to the world of Sri Lankan cuisine.
This unexpected platter was such a delightful lunch treat during my all-inclusive stay at Camellia Hills by @teardrop_hotels where all meals are made from scratch and made-to-order.
It came with a selection of vegetable curries, brinjal moju, pol sambol, fried dry chilli, papadam and saffron rice.
I requested for lesssss spicy and they nailed it!

Our waiter was very patient and keen about sharing the local cuisine with us. Such passion and pride made our dining experience even more memorable.

I told my ❤️ that I’m not interested to go fine dining (not just on our first date but also during our first 6 months).
Instead, we spend time grocery shopping, cooking, dancing in the kitchen and discovering our palates together through the food we cook and the places we stumble upon together.
BUT… WHY?
⚠️ warning: not your conventional dating/life tips:
1. My intention is to know and understand my person better on a deeper level first and not get distracted by something that I clearly know I would easily enjoy (i.e. fine dining).
2. If they can’t cook or don’t enjoy cooking, heck, that’s not my ❤️ for sure 😂.
One might argue that money can buy food delivery, a meal at the restaurant or even hire a personal chef, but nothing can sparkle my heart more than eating the food that is prepared and cooked by me and my ❤️ and I only realize it through our experiences together.
That’s another level of intimacy that money can’t buy.
3. If you’re going on a first date, and getting to the highly coveted restaurant is a form of flex, then you/your date is trying to impress with power, money and influence. It doesn’t necessarily translate into love, romance and devotion.
To me, it’s more important to get the core values right before diving into the luxury pleasures.

Langoustine is roasted and served with sweet peas, Swiss chard, romanesco, broccolini, choy sum flowers, cavolo nero and served alongside a warm brown butter mayonnaise.
Love this sublime dish by @chefkirk_w.
This is also the most beautiful 🌟🌟 Michelin-star restaurant in Singapore that I’d highly recommend for solo dates, romantic dates and celebrations.

Recently, a new friend of mine asked about my mantra in life - especially when in face of adversity.
I gave it a thought and I realized that I’ve always had this “I’m a lucky girl” mantra ever since I was a little girl.
I believe in creating my own luck that makes me 𝒍𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒚.
And if life closes off something for me, I trust that it’s a redirection that will bring me closer to what’s actually meant for me.
Turns out, it is always wayyyy better than what I used to hold on to.

Happy birthday @chefkirk_w! 🎉 You’re the first chef who made me feel welcomed back in Singapore when I was quarantined at @swissotelthestamford 2 years ago.
The “snacks” turned out to be a 3-course meal in the comfort of the hotel room.
Months later, I embarked on my first solo fine dining at @jaanbykirk to celebrate my birthday right before you got your 🌟🌟 Michelin stars.
It was a night filled with fireworks (Singapore’s National Day), special menu with the great company of my own without feeling alone.
My second visit was your collaboration with @adills1 before he got his 🌟🌟 Michelin stars in UK 🇬🇧 within the same month this year.
It was a marriage of delicate and rich flavour profiles in one afternoon at your beautifully renovated restaurant.
The tasting at @jaanbykirk two days ago, marks the first time I get try your new Spring menu.
Dining at @jaanbykirk feels like having a gastronomic meal in your stunning home. Even the signature plates are designed by you at @gaya.ceramic.
“Delicate yet complex” as described on your menu, is absolutely what it is at @jaanbykirk.
