Ngerebeg/Mekotek

When: 14 January 2023
Where: Bandung, Bali

What: Munggu Village is one of the tourist villages with a distinct/unique cultural attraction. One of the cultural potentials of Minggu Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency is the ngerebeg tradition, also known as mekotek. Mekotekan is one of the traditions that takes place once every six months, on the Kuningan holiday. The people of Munggu Village believe that this tradition has been carried out since the Mengwi Kingdom to eliminate disease outbreaks and natural disasters.

Berawa Arts Festival

When: February 2023
Where: Badung, Bali

What: Berawa Beach Arts Festival is an effort to promote creative activities for the coastal community, particularly in North Kuta, with a focus on cross-cultural relationships. It provides opportunities for personal and communal transformation and creative innovation. The festival, which has broken records for holding a massive Kecak with thousands of dancers in 2018 and building the largest art installation in 2019, will be filled with music and cultural performances, art installations, and many other forms of entertainment on the beach.

Ogoh-Ogoh Parade

When: 21 March 2023
Where: Denpasar, Bali

What: The name Ogoh Ogoh comes from the Balinese “ogah-ogah,” which means “to shake,” and it represents the Bhuta-Kala, or evil spirits, which must be kept away from humans. Many Banjars will accompany the convoy with their Ogoh-Ogoh, shaking it to make it appear to be moving and dancing. The event is an accompaniment of giant dolls (ogoh-ogoh) that are paraded around certain villages or areas at the night before the Silence Day.

Omed-Omedan

When: 23 March 2023
Where: Denpasar, Bali

What: Omed-omedan, also known as ‘The Kissing Ritual,’ is a ceremony practiced by the youth of Banjar Kaja Sesetan in Denpasar, Bali. The name means “pull-pull” in Balinese. It was inspired by a fight between a male and female pig and represents the push and pull of positive and negative forces. This event is usually held after the celebration of the silence day

Bhinneka Pantai Jerman Culture Festival
